TVU Networks Wins 2025 NAB Show Project of the Year Award

LAS VEGAS — TVU Networks announced today that its work supporting France Télévisions’ broadcast of the Summer Games Torch Relay is a winner in the inaugural NAB Show Project of the Year Awards in the category of Acquisition. The France Télévisions Summer Games Torch Relay was led by Romuland Rat, Amy Rajoanson, and Yann Bureller of France Télévisions with its technology partner TVU Networks. This official awards program highlights the outstanding key players bringing to life the most ambitious and innovative projects delivered in 2024.

Host broadcaster France Télévisions transformed its 2024 Games coverage in Paris using cloud technology, private 5G, and Starlink to cut costs, reduce CO2 emissions, and enhance production.

It was the first 100% cloud-based end-to-end 5G live production and disaster recovery plan for a tier-1 sporting event.

Starting with the Torch Relay — spanning 65 territories, 11K+ torchbearers, and up to 12 hours of live coverage daily — the broadcaster achieved efficiency similar to the Tour de France but over a longer period and on a much smaller budget. By replacing traditional satellite fleets with 100% 4G/5G transmission, France Télévisions partnered with TVU Networks, TDF, Obvios, and AWS to deploy the most compact and mobile private 5G network, delivering 500 Mbps uplink speeds and 50-80ms latency for seamless cloud-based remote production.

The ambitious project resulted in historic outcomes: Nearly 60M views in France, a 96% drop in transmission costs, 63% savings in production expenses, and over 600 metric tons of CO2 saved.
