New recording formats
The update introduces three new recording formats:
- FFcrop 3.8K 16:9 recording up to 120fps
- S35 4.3K 4:3 aspect imager scan mode for anamorphic shooting up to 60fps
- S35 1.9K 16:9 recording up to 240fps (SDI and HDMI outputs unavailable at 240fps)
Anamorphic and monitoring features
Operators can now select 1.8x de-squeeze settings for anamorphic lenses. The camera adds 24.00p frame rate support to X-OCN 16:9 imager scan modes.
New monitoring tools include High/Low key exposure settings and VF Gamma Display Assist for S-Log3 monitoring. The system expands White Balance memory positions from three to eight presets.

Frame rate and output updates
Additional S&Q selection increments are now available: 66, 72, 75, 88, 90, 96, and 110fps. The update adds 23.98PsF support for SDI output and introduces [Monitor FHD] as a factory preset for both X-OCN and XAVC formats.
Camera status information now displays outside the image area in [Monitor FHD] mode for both HDMI and SDI outputs. Time Code and Clip Name metadata overlay onto [Monitor FHD] output.
Image quality and processing
S-Log3 external output image quality receives improvements in Base Look mode. Sony adds 709tone as a new preset Base Look option and enhances image quality when applying user 3D LUTs.
Fundamentals of Directing
The camera now records breathing compensation and image stabilisation metadata in X-OCN files. Active/High Image stabilisation support extends to FF crop 6K and S35 1.9K 16:9 modes.
Lens and control integration
BURANO now supports commands for PL lenses with Cooke/i Technology. Focus and Zoom can be controlled directly on the camera, through the M&C app, or via external devices. Iris control remains available through the Remote Control Panel only.
The PL mount voltage setting adds a 24V option. Autofocus performance improves when recording at 29.97P, 25P, 24P, and 23.98P frame rates.

System and interface changes
Proxy recording becomes available with 24P system frequency. The factory-reset frequency changes from 59.94P to 23.98P. A new [Reset to Factory Defaults] menu option initialises all settings, including passwords and User 3D LUTs.
Variable ND control can now be operated from the Remote Control Panel. The status screen adds “Imager Temperature” monitoring and allows “Format Media” execution from the Media screen.
Camera ID and Reel number settings are accessible through the Project screen. External devices connected via a wired LAN can now control tally functions.
