Blackmagic Design has announced a new update, DaVinci Resolve 19 Beta 5, for the public beta version of their postproduction suite. The company has added new functions and improvements, such as optimized multiview layouts and transition options in the timeline menu, improving the user experience and the program’s capabilities.

DaVinci Resolve 19 Beta 5 – what’s new

The changes may not seem significant if you look at two consecutive versions of DaVinci Resolve. Despite the company’s frequent updates, the program continuously evolves, enhancing its workflow and user experience and introducing new functionalities that many users have requested.

On this occasion, modules like the layout section have seen improvements. On the Cut Page, you now have the option of multiview layouts to better fit the width of the viewer. It now shows all the sources, making better use of all the blank space.

Still in the Cut Page, you can now adjust the transition’s duration, type, and alignment directly from the timeline context menu, improving the workflow and accelerating the creative process when making decisions on the go. Furthermore, we can finally look at the render cache activity on the Cut Page timelines and be aware of all the processes, whether they are in process or completed.

The Resolve FX film look adds options to simulate film stocks, giving you more flexibility when creating the final look. Also, when syncing video and audio files, you can now select whether to use either audio or video metadata to keep the information of the shot, scene, and take. Also, you can now make speed changes in the inspector by adding keyframes to the clip to adjust the clip’s speed between keyframes on the Timeline or the Inspector.

For those using the DaVinci Resolve Studio version, this Beta 5 Update increases the speed up to 3x on AI performance on supported Intel Windows systems. This version also adds automatic SDR to HDR tone mapping and 2x and 4x SuperScale options in Windows machines with supported Nvidia GPUs.
