Blackmagic Design Introduces New Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P

Blackmagic Design announced the Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P, the first Ethernet switch designed specifically for the film and television industry! This high performance plus low latency Ethernet solution also features 16 fast 10G Ethernet ports, 2 extremely high speed 100G Ethernet ports, and rear Ethernet connections for better cable management. This simple plug and play solution that operates within the 2110 IP video workflow has everything needed for film and television work! Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P will be available in July from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide for US$2,895.

The Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P will be demonstrated on the Blackmagic Design NAB 2024 booth #SL5005.

The Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P has been designed specifically for the television industry! This means all network connections are on the rear, which is the same side as the network ports on customers’ broadcast equipment. This makes connecting network cables simple! Standard data switches have their connections on the front which means the cabling becomes a total mess. If customers mount data switches on the rear their data cables are not secure.

Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P has 16 totally independent 10G Ethernet ports using standard RJ-45 connectors. Because Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P is designed for television, the Ethernet connections are on the rear for simple cable management, and each connector is slightly interleaved so customers have space to disconnect cables. With lots of 10G ports, customers can build extremely large HyperDeck ISO recorder arrays. Then connect lots of DaVinci Resolve workstations for editors and colorists.

For extreme speed, Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P also includes two independent 100G Ethernet connections. For large ISO recording and live replay systems, a Blackmagic Cloud Store Max can connect directly into the 100G Ethernet connection, allowing lots of simultaneous Ultra HD recording streams.

Now customers can create self contained 2110 IP systems without needing an IT technician to configure complex multicast settings, because customers can route IP video using a router control panel. It includes a machined metal spin knob, color LCD and short cut buttons. Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P will then setup all the multicast settings in the background without the complex IT settings.

Blackmagic Ethernet Switch 360P includes an HDMI output that shows customers each Ethernet connection in a visual status display. Just connect any HDMI TV or computer monitor. Customers get the link speed, plus the current data transfer speed. There’s also a live data graph for each port that shows customers the data rate vs the port capacity over time.

“When we started thinking about using 2110 IP for the television industry, we realised that we needed a way to make the workflow easy for our customers,” said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO. “So we have designed an Ethernet Switch that has connections on the back and uses a simple video router interface instead of an IT configuration screen. It’s a great plug and play solution, especially for smaller broadcast 2110 IP systems in fly away kits or small broadcast trucks!”
