Blackmagic Design Cloud Live Sync Introduced

Blackmagic Design has announced Blackmagic Cloud Live Sync. With this new Blackmagic Cloud storage feature, users can sync media into a Davinci Resolve bin while recording, and editors and colorists can start working while the camera is still recording.

With the new feature, postproduction professionals can see and start working with the media from any location while the shooting is still happening. Blackmagic Cloud live sync uses the ability to record the full-resolution HD proxy in H.264. The Cinema Camera 6K, PYXIS, URSA Cine, and URSA Broadcast G2 share this feature, which allows those files to live sync to Blackmagic Cloud as they are recorded. Then, they are also synced down to the Davinci Resolve workstations connected to the cloud project. The connection is automatic, making the process pretty straightforward.

The process on the camera is pretty simple, too: the user logs into Blackmagic Cloud and selects a DaVinci Resolve project before recording. After that, the recording starts live syncing to all connected DaVinci Resolve workstations. In multi-camera recordings, the new multi-sync feature shows all cameras in a multi-view.

Blackmagic Cloud Live Sync Features

  • Live syncs up to Blackmagic Cloud the moment recording starts.
  • Within seconds the media shows up in the DaVinci Resolve bin.
  • Edit and color correct as the camera records.
  • No faster way to get media on air for broadcast news.
  • Allows remote color grading of shots, syncing back on set in real time.

Price and availability

Blackmagic Cloud live sync will be public in beta version in mid-June as a free download for Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K and Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2. Updates for all cameras will follow shortly after. This Blackmagic Cloud update will be free with current Blackmagic Cloud media sync plans at no additional cost.
