DAZN brings FIFA World Cup closer to fans with TVU Networks

A goal goes in at a World Cup stadium in North America, and DAZN Italia is already cutting to the reaction on the ground: a reporter still amid the crowd, a flagship store in central Milan, a neighbourhood bar three streets over. Every one of those contributions reaches DAZN’s production centre almost instantaneously, stitched live into one continuous programme. That was the editorial ambition DAZN Italia set for its FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage, in a single line: bring the tournament closer to people, and people closer to the tournament.

DAZN Italia designed that thread itself: format, routes, editorial rhythm, then brought in two technology partners built to move at the same speed as the story: Time4Stream, its partner on the ground in Italy, and TVU Networks, whose IP and aggregated transmission technology made possible the live links from DAZN’s reporters in Canada, the United States and Mexico, from a neighbourhood sports bar in Milan and from a studio inside a flagship store in central Milan: every location in dialogue with the others and connected through DAZN’s production centre in Cologno Monzese.

On the ground in North America, four ENG crews ran deliberately overlapping routes through Canada, the United States and Mexico, each carrying a TVU One transmitter feeding DAZN’s production centre in Milan in a matter of seconds.

Meanwhile in Italy, DAZN wanted that same immediacy for the fans watching from home. Its answer was an entire segment run from the counter of a Milan shop: three PTZ cameras plus a smartphone on TVU Anywhere app, cameras and audio controlled remotely from Cologno Monzese over a single TVU One, with a video return so DAZN’s talent could see the live show as it went out.

From there, one of DAZN’s ENG crews carried the story into a neighbourhood sports bar, DAZN’s commercial partner, because when the stadium is a continent away, the bar is where people gather for it. The crew was there to capture testimonials, colour and live reactions to the goals; the match itself played on the bar’s screens as DAZN’s own broadcast. TVU Anywhere carried only the crew’s smartphone signal, live from a single phone into both the shop and the Cologno Monzese gallery, with TVU Partyline, a live intercom link, keeping the crew connected to Milan. Time4Stream, a technology partner to both DAZN and TVU Networks in Italy, supplied and ran every one of these setups on the ground.

All of it converged in Cologno Monzese, where two TVU servers managed every incoming connection, and DAZN’s production team cut between North America, the shop and the bar as the tournament dictated.

“DAZN came to us with a clear vision and a demanding set of requirements. Our job was to engineer it into something that would hold up every single day of the tournament,” said Ferdinando Tuccillo, technical manager at Time4Stream.

“Seeing our technology used this way, inside a broadcaster’s own editorial concept, across three countries and two very different Milan locations, is exactly what we build it for,” said Rafael Castillo, VP/GM EMEA & LATAM at TVU Networks.
